Fallen Angels - July 14-28, 2012

Picture
The Fallen Angels Cycle is a set of miniature chamber operas, each about 15 minutes long and each for a cast of three. Each opera takes a religious story, takes it out of a religious context, changes the setting to a modern United States, and focuses on the moral grey area that is behind the "villain"s choices. The idea is to show how people in the present day, when placed in similar situations, might do similar things even if they themselves aren't "evil," as their portrayals typically are in religious literature.

Imagery in Music - June 29, 2012

Picture
Music and art have often inspired one another.  In this recital, baritone Rameen Chaharbaghi and pianist Cheryl Branham perform music that explores a wide variety of images, from young lovers together at the height of Spring to a mocking image of the Anglican Church.  Alongside the performance, a slide show will display art of all genres and time periods, including photography, sculpture, and painting.
